About Us
Peter Lumia BC-HIS was born and raised in Jamestown, New York.  He was the son of a DPW worker and a stay at home and nurse's aid mom.  He has been actively involved in church since he was an altar boy as a child.  Peter found the Lord Jesus and was born again in February of 1977.  He has been pursuing Jesus daily ever since.  He has also served his local church in many capacities including C.Y.O. officer and church treasurer for four years.  Peter also actively participates in music ministry including playing the trumpet that he started on at 8 years old and running the sound board.  He also enjoys spending time with his family and hopefully being the best father and grandfather he can be.  His community memberships include Salvation Army Kettles, Gideons, Full- Gospel Business, and Promisekeepers. Peter began his training in the hearing instrument industry under his mentor Morris Greenstein of Beltone in Jamestown in 1971.  His semi-formal training took place in Chicago at Beltone's headquarters.  He was promoted to office manager at Beltone in Olean in 1977.  In 1978, Beltone of Chicago offered him a regional management position for the Northeastern United States which included seven states.  After two years on the road, Peter built and ran a hearing aid center in Batavia, NY for two years.  In 1983, he returned to Jamestown to be closer to his two teenage sons.      Peter and his anchor and wife Diane started Valu Hearing Services in 1984 with God's blessing.  They are dedicated to serving people first.  The business began with God's blessing, one file, and two service calls.  Peter and Diane initially worked out of their home, raising seven children, until God blessed them with the property on Foote Avenue in Jamestown where they have built their reputation for the last 28 years.  In that time, the business has grown to serve over 1400 people.  Praise the Lord! Peter has been licensed as a hearing aid dispenser in New York since 1973 and Pennsylvania since 1992.  He is nationally board certified by the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences which puts him in the top 5% of all dispensers.  He is required to fulfill 24 credit hours of new technical training every two years.  He is back to school two times each year to maintain his certification and keep us at the cutting edge of digital technology.  Peter also maintains memberships with the International Hearing Society and The New York State Hearing Guild. Peter and Diane's office staff consists of Jaime Abbott who has been with Valu Hearing since June 2009.  She manages the front office as well as being a licensed apprentice hearing instrument specialist.  We  also employ Shannon Higbee as part-time office staff since May 2012.  We are proud to say that we are all comforted and guided by the spirit of God as we continue to approach each client with a "servant's spirit.  Praise the Lord!
